We live in Paradise. This is the most spoken sentence on the South Coast.
The South Coast is a stretch of 120 km of coastal land south of Durban. With its tropical weather and stunning views, the South Coast is not only a perfect holiday destination but also a perfect place to call home.
Life on the South Coast flows differently and it is directly influenced by the proximity of the ocean. It is very hard not to pop down to the beach on your way from work. It is also a perfect spot to walk your dogs or meet with friends.
Let’s have a look at our 3 favourite beaches on the Lower South Coast.

Ramsgate Main Beach is one of 6 blue flag beaches on the South Coast. The area around the beach has recently been renovated, so the visitors can enjoy clean bathrooms and new thatching. Apart from chilling on the beach, you can take two different ramble walks and enjoy nature and watch dassies and crabs hiding between the rocks. You can also get a drink at Blue Lagoon Restaurant, which is right on the beach, and enjoy the view.

Marina Beach is another blue flag beach on the Lower South Coast. It has kept its Blue Flag status continually for the last 15 years. It is a real stunner! Apart from the Main beach in Marina Beach, there is also one called Kent Bay. That’s my favourite! Did you know that you can walk from Marina Beach to Trafalgar beach if the tide allows it? What a treat!

Southbroom also has a whole stretch of different beaches. There is a main beach with a lagoon that’s part of Ramsgate South Beach. There is Granny’s Pool – a beautiful tidal pool. From Southbroom Beach you can walk south until you reach Marina Beach and then further all the way to Trafalgar. Southbroom main beach is also a famous spot for surfing! We stop by there quite often and watch the surfers and dream of learning the skill.

P.S. Please remember to clean up after your dog if you take them to the beach. Please do not let them chase the wildlife. We also encourage everyone to pick up rubbish, if they see it. Let’s keep our beaches pristine!
